Job Description

The Role:

The ICT training and eLearner contractor will assist The Department to develop and deliver ICT training in a number of areas. At present there is a risk of single points of failure as a result of restrictions placed on APS staff recruitment activities and specialist knowledge held by individual staff members. An initiative for cross-skilling and transferring knowledge from key staff is underway, however limited staff numbers make these tasks difficult.

Key Duties: 

The trainer will:

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver ICT-related training for the department and partner agencies, including the development of eLearning packages to reduce the number of hours on face to face courses.  Courses include:
    • New Starter Checklist - Required courses for all new staff
      • ODIN Cables
      • ICN High
    • LANA and PSA - for staff with technical support roles at post
      • LANA Training Course
      • PSA Training Course
    • Partner Agency - for Partner (attached) Agencies in the use of Department ICT systems
      • Partner Agency ICN High, Cables and ICED/SPICED
    • EDRMS
  • Other training packages if work scheduling permits:
    • Video Conferencing
    • Graduate program ICT
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to update training material as required.
  • Manage all tasks associated with ESS PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management administrator including enrolling, updating and completing learner training profiles.
Skills and Experience Required:

The trainer should have following skills and professional practice:

  • IT systems training
  • Instructional design
  • Adult learning techniques
  • Proven eLearning development or other electronic training development and delivery methods.
It would also be an advantage to have the following skill set:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable
  • ESS PeopleSoft Enterprise learning Module (ELM) administrator
  • Knowledge of ITIL Foundation and Change Management frameworks
  • Knowledge of PC hardware
  • Knowledge of records management principles and practices
Location and Contract Term: This is a Canberra based role. Contract 1 july 2019 - 30 June 2020. 2 x 1 year extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
