Job Description

The Role:

Providing Wintel and VMware Infrastructure operations expertise and assistance to the Department for one or more of the following core competencies:
  • Windows Server Operating Systems,
  • Active Directory,
  • Microsoft SCCM,
  • Microsoft Hyper-V & VMM,
  • Microsoft SCOM,
  • Microsoft File and Print,
  • VMware ESX & vSphere,
  • VMware vRA,
  • VMware vSAN,
  • VMware NSX,
  • Microsoft Azure,
  • Microsoft Office 365,
  • Amazon Web Services,
  • CI/CD-Jenkins,
  • Nexus,
  • Ansible/Puppet
  • Working with Project Managers to define and schedule deliverables;
  • Documenting Wintel and/or VMware solution options for the Department, key design decisions and solution architecture;
  • Contributing to the development of the overall IT Enterprise level architecture plans;
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered in line with the Department’s architecture plan;
  • Liaising regularly with project stakeholders as necessary;
  • Consulting and providing technical leadership to technical teams working on projects in alignment with departmental principles and road maps;
  • Providing status reports to Section Manager; 
  • Providing out of hours support, including a requirement to be on call, on a rostered basis

Skills and Experience Required:
  • Demonstrated experience in Wintel and VMware Infrastructure operations and for one or more of the following core competencies:
  • Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Microsoft Hyper-V & VMM
  • Microsoft SCOM
  • Microsoft File and Print
  • VMware ESX & vSphere
  • VMware vRA
  • VMware vSAN
  • VMware NSX
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Amazon Web Services
  • CI/CD-Jenkins, Nexus
  • Ansible/Puppet
  • Strong experience in implementing IT solutions for large, highly integrated government agencies or private organisations

Location and Contract Term: 
Canberra based role. Approx start date October 2019 till 30 June 2020. 2 x 12 month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
