Job Description

Key Duties: 
  • Provide Cloud Infrastructure services to support specialist environments, programs and projects;
  • Ensure outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the Department;
  • Develop team members and fulfill a guiding, mentoring and advisory role;
  • Lead a range of corporate support tasks;
  • Provide and maintain secure and effective information systems and networks (nationally and internationally) to deliver information at the right time and in the right format to serve operational and management requirements;
  • Supply advice, services, and work-products to business areas seeking to improve or enhance their business processes;
  • Maintain information management standards that meet government requirements;
  • Maintaining currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.
  • Work effectively in a small team environment;
  • Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other team members; and
  • Record and maintain files/information in accordance with Deparmtent requirements.

Skills and Experience Required:
  • The successful applicant will have worked with the VMware SDDC stack for a minimum of 3 years and be able to demonstrate:
    • Experience with vSphere
    • Experience with vRealize Automation
    • Experience with VMware vRealize Business
    • Experience with vRealize Log Insight
    • Experience with vRealize Operations Manager
    • Experience with vRealize Orchestrator
    • Experience with vRealize Site Recovery Manager
    • Experience with VMware vSAN
    • Experience with VMware NSX

  • In addition to VMware based skills, the applicant will also need proven experience in:
    • REST API programming and integration between different products in the enterprise
    • Integration of continuous delivery into cloud provisioning
    • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking with respect to configuring workloads/server infrastructure
    • Proven knowledge of the ASD ISM and high-level controls relating to PROTECTED workloads
  • Experience in the configuration/maintenance and troubleshooting of the following systems:
    • Virtualization and cloud concepts, processes and standards, such as virtual data centres, VMware vSphere vMotion, and dynamic resource scheduling
    • Systems management concepts, processes, and standards such as SNMP and syslog
    • Systems capacity and performance management and tuning
    • Systems backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery
    • Central authentication (LDAP/AD) and security
    • Red Hat, SuSe, Centos, Ubuntu, and other Linux or BSD based operating systems
    • Network protocols including DNS, SMTP, NTP, and SNMP
    • Network services including load balancing, routing, DMZs, and firewalls
    • Data storage for the enterprise including NAS (IP based), SAN (FC based), Software-defined storage (SDS), and converged storage solutions (vSAN, etc)

Location and Contract Term: Canberra based role. 12 month contract with an approx start date of 1 November. 2 x 12 month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval
