Job Description

The Tester will be accountable under broad direction for the planning, design, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques and conforming to agreed process standards and industry specific regulations. The purpose of testing is to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified (including security requirements) , and that the risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and documented. Testing includes the process of engineering, using and maintaining testware (test cases, test scripts, test reports, test plans, etc) to measure and improve the quality of the software being tested.
 
Skills and Knowledge required:
  1. Knowledge and experience of current developments and trends in IT systems.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Functional and security testing of in house and acquired products. Performed on a regular basis to provide early detection of issues.
  2. Work with virtual platforms and set up test infrastructure – VMWare ESX and VSphere.
  3. Automate where possible using scripting and proprietary developed testing systems, Python experience desirable.
  4. Document test cases and results.
  5. Review and analyse results; determining the source of faults and working with developers to address issues.
 
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. 24 months contract.
 
Security Requirements: Must hold either a current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded).
 
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
