Job Description

Seeking Cloud Engineer Specialists are needed in support of the department’s Capability Development Program

The Role:

The successful candidates will join project teams with a range of specialist cloud technology, software development, system administration, data engineering, business analysis, verification and validation, and project management peers. The roles will report to the Project Managers. In collaboration with security architects and technical leads, the Cloud Infrastructure Specialists will build, test and deliver scalable, secure cloud (PaaS) infrastructure and pipelines across a number of platforms.


Skills and Experience Required:
Essential Criteria

  • Expert public, private and hybrid cloud computing experience - 20%
  • Experience in architecting solutions hosted on Cloud technology including: AWS, Azure, Openstack or VMWare - 10%
  • Experience building and supporting automation using container technologies and deployment pipelines with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and/or CloudFoundry - 20%
  • Sound understanding of networking, security and content distribution - 5%
  • Sound experience in non-SQL based technologies such as; MongoDB, ELK, Splunk - 5%
  • Experience working in an environment employing DevSecOps principles, methodologies and culture - 10%
  • Sound skills in automating and running cloud infrastructure - 10%
  • Sound experience in driving CI/CD and automation in cloud solutions - 10%
  • Excellent analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills - 10%
 

Desirable criteria
Weighting

  • Linux or Windows administration experience (Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu or Debian). Experience using Ansible configuration management and working with git repositories - 20%
  • Exposure to VMware vCenter and working with various VMware technologies - 10%
  • Application development background, with source control, unit testing and deployment configuration experience - 15%
  • Experience configuring and administering Splunk or ELK installations - 5%
  • Able to write SELinux policies - 5%
  • Experience leading or managing highly technical teams to achieve business outcomes under pressure - 15%
  • Able to manage multiple, concurrent tasks with competing demands - 15%
  • High attention to detail with solid documentation skills and good client communication skills - 15%
 

Location and Contract Term:

Canberra / Offsite based. 12 Month Contract with 1 x 12 Month extension options

Security Requirements:

Must be an Australian Citizen. NV1 Security Clearance is required
