Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Linux servers within the large complex government department system/project.
Skills and Knowledge required:
  1. Greater than 5 years of Linux system administration experience.
  2. In depth knowledge of Linux CentOS and Fedora.
  3. Experience with KVM and Openstack vitualisation technologies.
  4. Experience with Kubernetes and Docker containerisation.
  5. Experience with Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting.
  6. Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, FreeIPA, SMTP, XMPP, Postfix(MTA), Dovecot and SNMP.
  7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar relevant degree.
  8. Linux certifications such as RHCT, RHCE and LPIC.
  9. Experience working within agile project management frameworks.
  10. Experience with DEVOPS methodologies.
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Reviewing and providing advice on the design and implementation.
  2. Installing and configuring Linux components within the node.
  3. Performing system maintenance and resolving server-side issues.
  4. Managing, coordinating, and implementing software upgrades, patches and hotfixes.
  5. Creating and modifying scripts or applications to perform specified tasks.
  6. Transferring knowledge to support personnel.
  7. Contributing to training material development.
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra.  12 months contract.
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen. Due to work environment, the client has requested that a current NV1 security clearance is preferred for this role.
