Job Description

We currently have an urgent requirement for Multiple Technical Specialists with one of private clients to migrate a national intelligence system to start early 2021.

They are looking for:

Developers
The developers will design, develop and implement software according to our client’s and industry standards and practices in the following (or similar) technologies:
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Hadoop Big Data Platforms
  • Cloud Infrastructure (MS Azure)
  • API-based integration patterns
  • (modern) Data Management tools (supporting both ETL and ELT patterns)
  • Integrated Data Management solutions
  • JAVA Platform
  • Integrated DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Open-source and COTS technology products.
You will be responsible for:
  • Mentoring junior application developers to transfer skills and knowledge.
  • Developing comprehensive documentation and perform testing to demonstrate built software and support successful system implementations.
  • Providing ongoing production support for the department’s capability and related infrastructure
Data / Data Architect
You will provide data / data architect services as required including:
  • Developing technology and system architecture artefacts.
  • Providing guidance and advice to stakeholders related to architecture within their domain.
  • Ensuring artefacts produced are fit for purpose, adhere to the architecture standards and patterns, and are suitable for approval to the respective governance boards (such as the Architecture Review Board).
  • Ensuring that project architecture artefacts are produced by the required deadlines set by program, project and release timeframes.
  • Providing key input to the following artefacts: Architecture End States, Solution Outlines, Architectural Decisions, Service Models, Operational Models, Corporate Data Models, and Reference Architectures Release Architecture Dependencies
Security Operations Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage security operations including monitoring and analysing activity on components (including networks) looking for activity that could indicate security incident or compromise.
  • Undertake security operations to look for security incident and compromise (based on agreed rules).
  • Undertake analysis, investigations and alerting (based on agreed process).
  • Manage the security operations centre services supporting the department provided by the Department.
  • Manage and configure the Security Information & Event Management (SIEM)
Asset and Configuration Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage and provide information about the department IT assets. This covers traditional managed hardware and software. It does not include cloud services (IaaS, PaaS or SaaS) as this is provided through the cloud management capability.
  • Provide hardware and software asset lifecycle management.
  • Manage request & approval, procurement, deploy & discover, maintain, support, retirement & disposal.
  • Provide consolidated IT asset management reporting from across other capability groups (e.g. cloud services).
Incident Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage and rectify incidents and outages as quickly as possible returning the system to stale state.
  • Mobilise necessary resources and procedures to address incidents and restore system availability, functionality and/or performance against agreed service levels.
  • Manage incident workflow to resolution – this includes, 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Produce incident reports including incident resolution.
  • Feed incident and resolution details into problem management where required.
Problem Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Identify and resolve the root causes of issues and apply permanent fixes and improvements.
  • Mobilise necessary resources and procedures within the DevOps construct to identify issue root causes and apply fixes.
  • Manage problem workflow to resolution or other outcome.
  • Produce problem management reports including problems in backlog and in progress.
Cloud Specialist
The Platform will reside on a cloud platform hosted by the Department. The cloud platform will be ‘PROTECTED’ and have the appropriate security measures in place to maintain this level of security. The Service Provider will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage cloud services and integrations.
  • Manage provision and de-provision on environments and services.
  • Manage infrastructure as code for automated service management.
  • Provide reports and dashboards on cloud utilisation.
Processes:
  • Provision environment
  • De-provision environment
  • Update Infrastructure as code
  • Provision cloud service
  • De-provision cloud service
  • Produce cloud service reports
  • Cloud service dashboards.
Network Engineer
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage end to end network connectivity for the department solution. This includes connectivity of partner agencies.
  • Manage networks providing connectivity to participants into the department.
  • Manage the Enhance Network Connectivity.
  • Manage connectivity into the cloud
  • Manage network components.
  • Manage connectivity enabling cloud administration into the cloud (via the Common Service Environment).
Performance Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Manage and monitor system performance against agreed performance targets. This includes infrastructures, platform, software and services.
  • Configure and manage alerting against performance metrics.
  • Produce reports and dashboards indicating performance levels.
  • Consolidate, analyse and trigger treatment from monitoring data that may come from other capabilities.
  • IT Service Management
  • Cloud service dashboards
Capacity Manager
You will:
  • Manage capacity to ensure capacity is available to meet ongoing demand. This includes the ability to scale up and out within agreed limits and process.
  • Monitor capacity components against agreed targets.
  • Configure and manage alerting against capacity metrics.
  • Where relevant and agreed trigger automatic scaling to increase capacity within set limits.
  • Where relevant and agreed trigger manual scaling processes to increase capacity.
  • Produce reports and dashboards indicating capacity levels and showing if future scaling may be required.
  • Consolidate, analyse and trigger treatment from capacity data that may come from other capabilities.
Release Manager
You will undertake the following activities and processes:
  • Create and realise precise and comprehensive plans to deploy changes and releases of applications and infrastructure in a successful, effective and timely manner.
  • Assess, approve, implement and review IT changes in a controlled manner.
  • Release and technical change reporting.
  • Provide technology deployment and change release.
  • Provide request management.
  • Provide release dependency management.
  • Provide deployment plans for changes.
Data Preparation
You will undertake the following activities:
  • Transformation and standardisation of data into structures that enable discoverability, access and analytics.
  • De-duplication to avoid multiple sources of the same information being stored and referenced.
  • De-normalisation to suit different analytic access patterns.
  • Support indexing by type, including field level, full-text and geospatial.
  • Basic linking to other entities.
  • Mapping of addresses, postcodes and placenames into points or regions on maps
Data Ingestion Management
You will undertake the following activities:
  • Maintenance of the set of collection patterns.
  • Maintenance of the integration of systems to ingest data.
Platform Management
You will undertake the following activities:
  • Manage platform component configuration and deployment.
  • Manage platform code including development, deployment and maintenance.
  • Manage platform component integration and deployment scripts.
  • Manage platform component patching and versioning.
  • Manage platform access channels.
  • Manage testing (manual and automated) including integration (internal), system and performance testing.
Technical Capability Management
You will undertake the following activities:
  • Act as primary contact for all Department enabling capabilities.
  • Routing and triaging issues, enquiries or requests into the Department environment.
  • Manage and monitor issues, enquiries or requests into the Department environment.
 

Location:  Canberra  
Contract Term: Until 30 June 2022 with 2 x  12 month extension options.
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen. Due to the work environment, our client has requested that all candidates MUST have a current NV1 security (minimum).
