Job Description

The Systems Engineer will be accountable under general direction to design, prototype, implement and transition the Automation & Monitoring components of a new Enterprise ICT environment.
The role requires design, engineering & delivery skills and a proven ability to work within an integrated team of technical and non-technical personnel. The proposed system will make use of VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF) technologies, specifically VRA, VRO, and VROPS, however adaptable experience with other enterprise monitoring & automation suites (e.g. SCOM, SolarWinds, SMA, SCORCH, Ansible, or similar) is also acceptable.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Work with project managers, product owners, business analysts and senior customers on the design of integrated ICT solutions that support organisational outcomes within the constraints of a technology roadmap.
  2. Provide engineering solutions that demonstrate awareness of dependencies and the need to collaborate and integrate with partner agencies and strategic industry partners.
  3. Lead the analysis of complex systems and apply engineering expertise to identify and recommend courses of action.
  4. Escalate issues and seek advice from the Project Director and or Project Tranche Manager or Engineering Manager in a timely manner.
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
 
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. 12-month contract. Extension Options: 2 x 12 months.
 
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.
