Job Description

The Network Engineer/Solutions Architect will take a lead role working in a team of engineers responsible for gathering business, technology and security requirements, drive collaboration with internal and external domain specialists and translating them into a technical architecture and proposed design that will meet the needs of the organisation. The role will require a candidate to have knowledge and understanding of modern network architectures, industry best practices in security, routing & switching including Data Centre Network technologies. The role requires excellent design skills, strong collaboration skills and outstanding communication skills.
 
Skills and Knowledge:
  1. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with 802.1Q trunking, port-channel / LACP, leaf/spine architecture, VXLAN, multi-tenancy network segregation etc.
  2. Strong knowledge and experience with access networking e.g. 802.1X/RADIUS authentication, port security, VLAN, 802.1X trunking, etc.
  3. Expert level knowledge in routing and switching protocol (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, MPLS).
  4. Strong knowledge and experience with enterprise networking technologies, such as MPLS, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, VPLS, etc.
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
  2. Design, analyse, plan, and modify network components supporting customer communication implementation activities.
  3. Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
  4. Conduct lab testing on new and existing hardware and software including network, security and cloud products.
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. 12- or 24-month contracts will be considered.
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.
