Job Description

The Project Manager will be accountable under the general direction of a Senior Project Manager / Program Manager for the management of projects, typically (but not exclusively) involving the development and implementation of business processes to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality. The adoption and adaptation of project management methodologies based on the context of the project and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
The Project Support Officer will play an active role in supporting project delivery, project documentation, vendor management, procurement, and providing administrative support. The PSO will play an important role in project planning, risk and issue management, helping to drive projects forward to achieve outcomes for a diverse range of customers.
The role will involve working with business stakeholders, software developers and / or administrators, system architects / analysts, testers and business analyst personnel.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Role in planning, development and implementation of discrete phases and/or projects and systems.
  2. Experience in organisational project methodologies. Assists in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
  3. Conducts procurement activities to support wider project requirements, including engagement with service providers.
  4. Contributes to project documentation including but not limited to Project Plan/Proposal, Stage Plans (including reviews and reporting on progress), Exception and Completion Reports.
  5. Role in financial management as well as risk and issue management. Escalates issues and seeks advice from project leadership in a timely manner.
 
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. Contract terms between 12 and 24 months will be considered.

SFIA security level required:

  • Project Manager: PRMG 4
  • Project Support Officer: PROF 3 (Primary)
  • Project Support Officer: PROF 4 (Primary)
Security Requirements: The mandatory clearance level required for these roles is Negative Vetting 2 (NV2), however Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance holders are preferred. Successful candidates will be required to upgrade or gain acceptance of their clearances to TSPV status before commencement and depending on the age and / or level of their current clearance, could take between three and 12 months.
