Job Description

The Business Analyst will be accountable under the general direction of a Senior Business Analyst / Program Manager for the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business goals, objectives, functions and processes, the information used and the data on which the information is based. The definition of requirements for improving processes and systems, reducing their costs, enhancing their sustainability, and the quantification of potential business benefits. The collaborative creation and iteration of viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems. The adoption and adaptation of business analysis approaches based on the context of the work and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
The role will involve working with business stakeholders, project managers, system architects and development personnel.

Major Responsibilities / Skills and Knowledge required:
  1. Is accountable for investigating complex business needs, problems and opportunities and recommends effective business and ICT changes (processes, systems, people, information).
  2. Applies expert knowledge of business analysis methods and techniques to understand and articulate business requirements and business outcomes.
  3. Constructs documentation to support the requirements definition, including but not limited to: requirements specifications, process maps, service design artefacts, functional and non-functional requirements, change management implications, data and reporting considerations
  4. Analyses very complex ICT business problems and applies expertise to identify and recommend courses of action.
 
Location of work: Australian Capital Territory
Length of contract: 12 and 24 month contracts will be considered, unless negotiated otherwise.
Security Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, the mandatory clearance level required for these roles is Negative Vetting 2 (NV2), however Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance holders are preferred. Successful candidates will be required to upgrade or gain acceptance of their clearances to TSPV status before commencement and depending on the age and / or level of their current clearance, could take between three and 12 months.
