Job Description

Our large government department client has a requirement for a Network Engineer to deliver a range of technical capabilities to our client  in a key capability domain. The successful candidate will need highly developed network design and configuration skills and a proven ability to work with an integrated team of technical and non-technical personnel. You will be adept at complex problem solving and dedicated to maintaining continuous improvement in your working environment. You must have the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and partners. This role will be responsible for designing, building, and implementation a network consisting of Cisco, HPE, Palo Alto and VMware NSX components. The position is full time onsite in our Canberra offices only.

Major Responsibilities / Skills and Knowledge required:

Essential criteria
  1. Demonstrated experience in ICT network implementation, configuration, and maintenance including Cisco, HPE, Palo Alto firewalls, VMware NSX components.
  2. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of communications infrastructure, with a specific focus on Gateways and Data Centres.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of software defined networking (SDN) used within Data Centres.
  4. Produce designs, design patterns, configurations, and documentation is accordance with industry standards.
  5. Use network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics and create reports.
  6. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Desirable criteria
  1. Experience or an interest in automation and/or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  2. Knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and how to apply it to infrastructure and networking.
  3. Strong administrative and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise work, allocate tasks and to work independently when required.
 
Estimated start date: 02-08-2021
Location of work: Australian Capital Territory
Length of contract: 12 months that includes an initial 3-month probation
Contract extensions: 12 months subject to an Organisational Suitability Assessment and funds availability.
Security Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, we require the minimum NV1 security clearance.
