Job Description

Our large government department client requires the services of a Level 4 Expert Practitioner Australian Generic Systems Architectures (AS GxA) Research and Development Engineer to supplement the contractor and the workforce within our department client.

The position is a research and development based role, with responsibility for solving complex ICT problems which are identified as part of the development and/ or maturing of various aspects of the AS GxA; as defined by the Commonwealth AS GxA representative.

Skills and Knowledge required / Major Responsibilities:
  1. Undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in electronic systems engineering, (preferably a Masters and PhD)
  2. Professional certification with the Institution of Engineers Australia, (preferably a CPEng)
  3. Extensive (>15 years) experience in electronic systems engineering, preferably with an integration R&D focus on electronic systems hardware / software, computing, wired / wireless communication, networking, sensor / signal / information processing and modelling / simulation
  4. Highly developed communications skills, specifically: i. Technical writing ability (preferably with experience in peer reviewed academic type report writing), ii. Verbal/ presentation skills
Desirable criteria
  1. A principled approach to constructive, logical, and rational decision making (or desire to operate this way)
  2. Australian regulatory system experience, particularly system architecture standards development
  3. Domain experience –Land Capability Systems Integration
  4. Understanding of The Commonwealth procurement process
  5. Experience solving complex ICT problems relevant to AS GxA (CISCO and LINUX experience a bonus)
  6. Ability to liaise with Commonwealth, industry and academic stakeholders
 
Location of work: Australian Capital Territory
Length of contract: 230 days per FY to 30 June 2023
Contract extensions: 3 x 1 year options to FY25/26
Security Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, we require the NV1.
