Job Description

Software Tester opportunity within CIO area. Able to assist the department's Enterprise Service Management and Digital Foundation Programs. Canberra central location.

About the Role:


Our client is seeking an experienced Software Tester to assist the department’s Enterprise Service Management and Digital Foundation Programs in driving a range of strategy, business, technical and program delivery outcomes. The department is consolidating and transforming its IT and Enterprise Service Management capability and requires a suitably experienced Software Tester to join the existing team.

The successful candidate will have

• Proven experience as a Quality Assurance (QA) Tester or similar role

• Experience in QA methodology

• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing is a plus

• Ability to document and troubleshoot errors

• Working knowledge of Service Management software is a plus (E.g., Service Now, SM9)

• Excellent communication skills

• Attention to detail

• Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude

• Strong organizational skills

Key activities and outcomes sought through this engagement include:

• Review and analyse system specifications

• Collaborate with SME’s to develop effective strategies and test plans

• Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results

• Evaluate output according to specifications

• Create logs to document testing phases and defects

• Report bugs and errors to relevant teams

• Help troubleshoot issues

• Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing

• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software configuration lifecycle


About You:

Essential Criteria

Demonstrated experience in developing test plans, test scenarios and test cases

Demonstrated experience in testing functional and non-functional requirements

Demonstrated experience in managing user acceptance testing

High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders


Contract term: To 25 Feb 2022

Contract extensions: 2 x up to 3 months 

Eligibility/Other Requirements: To be eligible for temporary employment within the Australian Public Service you must be an Australian citizen. Have the ability to obtain baseline clearance.
