Job Description

The Software Developer is required to assist in the development and integrate of software employing an Agile Software Development Methodology (SDM). The position/s will include developing software, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment.       
    
Skills and Knowledge:
  1. Demonstrable experience in development languages/frameworks such as Python, Java, Java Messaging Service, Javascript, J2EE, RESTful web services, Django and Ruby, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
  2. Demonstrable experience with Puppet, Ansible and Docker automation tools.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Enhance and support automation capability for existing systems and recommend/design new structures and tools which meet business requirements which take into account the target environment. Integrate Commercial Off the Shelf and Government Off the Shelf software. Translate logical designs into physical designs and integrate software employing an Agile Software Development Methodology.
  2. Monitor systems and infrastructure; provide assistance with support requests to fix and troubleshoot issues.
  3. Implement and maintain automated testing. Provide feedback on implementation and design aspects as required from other areas.
  4. Database design and implementation for operational systems.
  5. Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures and produce documentation, including detailed design documentation, in accordance with the large complex government department policies and procedures.
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. 12 months from commencement date.
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: To be eligible for an engagement, candidates must be willing to undergo and successfully complete an our client Organisational Suitability Assessment and a Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance.
