Job Description

Federal Government department, seeking an experienced Principal Specialist, Capability and Strategy.  If you have experience working in or with financial institutions and have 20+ years experience working on complex projects crossing multiple functions such as technology, risk, legal, finance and regulatory areas – then we want to talk to you.

The Role:
  • Understanding the strategic environment at the intersections of technology, risk, legal, finance and regulatory areas
  • Building relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups to understand and advocate for user needs and stakeholder requirements
  • Proactively identify gaps or areas for improvement working with senior leadership and the various specialists in the Enterprise Analytics teams to define and deliver solutions.
  • Development of strategy, plan, objectives and timelines
  • Provide problem-solving support
  • Working closely with the project teams (Product Manager, Delivery Manager, Solution Architect, Researchers, Engineering and Data Science teams) and senior leadership to collectively ensure successful product and program delivery
  • Writing briefs and other communication materials for senior executives
  • Managing the budgets for Enterprise Analytics and associated projects
  • Assisting delivery leadership with work planning and estimations
  • Fostering a positive, respectful, and delivery focused culture for the team

The Skills:
  • Good experience working in, or with, financial institutions on the delivery of programs designed to identify financial crime and manage associated risks.
  • Good experience working in, or with, law enforcement and/or government agencies developing capabilities to assist in financial crime investigations.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management and technology practices in the financial services industry.
  • Good project budget management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and advocate for complex user needs and stakeholder requirements and work closely with technical specialists in order to meet user needs.
Location and Contract Term:
The role is based in Canberra with an estimate start of 28 January 2022.  This is a 24 month contract with a 12-month extension option possible.

Security Requirements:
