Business Analyst

The Role:

The Department has a requirement for an experience Business Analyst to provide high level analytical support of the departments enhanced security systems.


The successful candidates will be required to undertake the following (but not limited to) tasks:
  • Manage requirements across any Diplomatic Security projects.
  • Liaise with, provide advice and respond appropriately to stakeholders on matters that relate to project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal Department and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Contribute to development of training, help and frequently asked questions about business processes.
  • Instigate and enable organisational change in the Division and Department for new business processes.
  • Deliver ongoing improvements to business processes and system functionality.
  • Develop other deliverables as required for emerging needs.

Skills and Experience Required:  
  • Engage stakeholders to gather, refine and document user requirements using various techniques which include but are not limited to interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Define complex business needs, serve as a thought leader
  • Evaluate proposed system solutions in close liaison with the program to ensure delivery of solutions is consistent with the department’s capability expectations
  • Prepare test and validation plans and work with the program to ensure delivery of quality risk-based outcomes
  • Review and analyse business processes, re-engineer as necessary to improve efficiency, effectiveness and/or usability using strategic analysis techniques and process models
  • Liaise with internal subject matter experts to assist in the design of functional solutions to effectively meet business requirements
  • Analyse data relationships and dependencies, business and service delivery processes and communication need regarding existing capability and emerging needs
  • Recommend and propose new capability to help realise business objectives
  • Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to prepare clear business objectives and capability specifications for the program
  • Exhibit exemplary team leadership and participation, showing examples of where your work has had a significant positive contribution to the outcome
  • Write documentation and provide progress reports to management with a collaborative, solutions-based approach
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Outstanding listening, writing and oral communication skills.
 

Location and Contract Term: This role is based in Canberra. 12 month contract with 1 x 12 month contract extension options.

Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a NV2 security clearance.
