About the Role
We are seeking a Lead ICT Security Specialist (EL1 equivalent) to join a cutting-edge cyber security team in Canberra. This role focuses on identifying and assessing vulnerabilities in ICT systems and products through rigorous analysis and testing. You will be responsible for designing and implementing security controls, conducting threat modelling, and producing detailed assessment reports aligned with ISM and PSPF standards.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Liaising with stakeholders to support secure system design and documentation.
  • Conducting security evaluations and functionality testing.
  • Preparing and reviewing test plans and executing system/product analysis.
  • Providing expert advice on cyber security activities including software development, forensics, electronics, and vulnerability research.
  • Developing assessment briefs for senior decision-makers.
  • Enhancing ICT security policy, governance, and documentation.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you must:
  • Be an Australian citizen with a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance.
  • Be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA), including a psychological evaluation.
  • Demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: information security, systems architecture, software/hardware engineering, reverse engineering, or vulnerability analysis.
  • Meet essential criteria including:
    • Security Evaluation and Functionality Testing (CIISEC Level 4)
    • Systems Design (SFIA Level 4)
Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency-recognised OSA are highly preferred.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT or Bendigo, VIC.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
