SAS Platform Engineer – Automation & Viya (Azure)

Our client is a major enterprise driving the transition of large-scale data platforms to the cloud. This role is pivotal in delivering secure, scalable, and automated analytics solutions using SAS Viya and Microsoft Azure.
About the role:
We are seeking experienced SAS Platform Engineers to join a high-performing team supporting strategic data and analytics platforms. You’ll play a key role in automating, optimising, and migrating one of the largest data platforms to a cloud-based environment, with a strong focus on DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate in Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support automated technical solutions.
• Drive and enhance CI/CD and DevSecOps practices in Azure, deploying and supporting cloud-native services, Kubernetes workloads, and Azure PaaS.
• Deploy, configure, and manage containerised applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and JFrog Artifactory.
• Install, configure, and maintain SAS Viya 4 in Azure, including migration from SAS 9.4.
• Integrate enterprise systems, security services, and data sources with Azure-based solutions.
• Implement monitoring, observability, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Apply and enforce security policies, secrets management, and data protection measures (HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, CyberArk).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud services.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and operational procedures.
• Support business-critical analytics initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Required Experience:
• 2–5+ years’ platform engineering experience (automation, DevSecOps, CI/CD) in cloud environments, ideally Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Jenkins, Bitbucket, JFrog Artifactory, GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing AKS and container-based applications.
• Extensive experience with SAS Viya 4 installation, administration, and migration from SAS 9.4.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, monitoring, and compliance.
• Programming/scripting skills (Python, Bash).
• Experience with Azure services (ADLS Gen2, NetApp Files, PostgreSQL Flexible Server).
• Experience with user access, authentication, RBAC/SCIM, and integration with enterprise identity providers (OIDC, SAML, LDAP, Entra ID, SailPoint).
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix and Agile methodologies (Jira, Confluence).
• Experience in security, risk, and compliance-focused environments.
Desirable Skills:
• Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power BI.
• Experience designing cloud-native/serverless data solutions (preferably Azure).
• Knowledge of DataOps, ModelOps, and test automation frameworks.
• Experience with Apache Airflow and microservices architecture.
• Financial services experience.
• Platform design experience with both public cloud and on-premise topologies.
