About the Role
As a Senior System Administrator, you will lead and manage system administration activities across key capability domains. You’ll be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of complex systems, leveraging automation tools to streamline operations and ensure continuous improvement. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, technical leadership, and the ability to work within agile, integrated teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems
- Use automation tools (e.g., Ansible) for system builds and configuration management
- Collaborate with delivery teams to improve processes
- Provide technical guidance and uplift team capability
- Participate in design reviews, stakeholder meetings, and agile processes
Technical Environment:
- Linux, Splunk, Ansible
- Networking, database management, and security protocols
Locations: Canberra ACT, Brisbane QLD, Melbourne VIC
Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
The Successful Candidate
You will be an experienced systems administrator with a background in infrastructure operations, systems design, and software administration. You’ll demonstrate leadership in technical delivery and possess strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
Essential Criteria Includes:
- System Installation & Removal (HSIN Level 5)
- System Software Administration (SYSP Level 5)
- Infrastructure Operations (ITOP Level 5)
- Systems Design (DESN Level 5)

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT, Brisbane QLD or Melbourne, VIC.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
