The role
As a training specialist, you will have government training development, delivery and coordination experience. You will possess high level communication skills and relevant experience across traditional and innovative learning and development platforms, including face to face; virtual, eLearning or blended learning options. Experience with training development software will be an advantage. You will require a sound understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Security Framework (or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge) and security threats and risk management, to enable the development, delivering, evaluating and updating of the security training suite and associated development programs. You will have very good management, coordination and interpersonal skills and be client and delivery focussed.
You will have the ability to develop innovative approaches to security training and delivery, facilitate and re-design training policy and contribute to security awareness and education pieces, ensuring the security of the departments people, information and assets. You will be comfortable and confident in engaging with workers. You will also be able to establish and maintain networks and actively engage with key stakeholders within the department and with other government bodies.
Key duties may include:
- Deliver presentations and facilitate training to staff and partner agencies.
- Develop innovative, relevant, diversity enabled and culturally sensitive learning solutions for officers, including associated instructional material.
- Undertake continual analysis and review of OTS’ training curricula and existing processes to ensure training aligns with the departments objectives.
- Identify security training and capability gaps and assist with development of strategies reducing those through a process of continual monitoring and refining of training to build and enhance security capability.
- Drawing on a broad cross-section of information, assist in the review and modify security training content to ensure it addresses emerging security risks, remains current with the Security Framework, uses adult learning principles, and considers and applies to our diverse staffing profile.
- As directed, liaise and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stake holders (across government agencies) to understand and refine security training needs for the department.

- Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.
Security Required: Must have a NV1 security Clearance - NV2 Preferred
