About the Role
This role presents an opportunity for an experienced Drupal (GovCMS) Software Engineer (Developer) to work on the enhancement and sustainment of enterprise‑scale government websites. You will be responsible for delivering secure, accessible and user‑focused web solutions using the GovCMS platform, working closely with UX/UI specialists and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing website enhancement and sustainment initiatives using GovCMS (Drupal)
- Implementing Drupal theming using Twig and PHP theme pre‑processing
- Collaborating with UX/UI specialists to deliver designs that meet user and business needs
- Maintaining and improving information architecture
- Managing publishing workflows and content updates
- Proactively identifying and mitigating risks and issues
- Ensuring compliance with government security standards and policies
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Drupal developer with strong government or enterprise website delivery experience and a quality‑driven mindset.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing and enhancing websites on GovCMS
- Strong knowledge of Drupal theming, including Twig and PHP
- Understanding of WCAG accessibility requirements
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – APS6 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Minimum NV1 Security Clearance is required. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
