We are seeking a dedicated AI Security Analyst to join the Departments dynamic development team that manages solutions on the AWS Cloud Ecosystem. You will be working with a large group of technical specialists across different areas and will be instrumental in identifying, assessing and reducing risks in AI systems built on cloud solutions.
It is essential that the candidate has experience securing AI systems and models e.g. prompt and input security, response guard rails, break testing, data protection/retention, system monitoring, and incident response management.
The primary project that you will be working on relates to developing AI tools that augment and enhance staff capabilities.
Established domain knowledge and experience with securing AI products and relevant AWS services is highly desirable.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Protect AI systems (models, data, infrastructure) from attack, misuse and unintended behaviour e.g. vulnerability analysis, testing, monitoring, security controls, data protection and incident response
- Proactively identify AI security issues and risks to the system and recommend and implement fit‑for‑purpose solutions/controls
- Securing RAG pipelines including retrieval integrity, embedding security and indirect prompt injection
- Promote and implement AI security using best practices using modern, automated, and repeatable approaches.
- Monitor, support, test, and troubleshoot AI systems, using appropriate observability tools to ensure that it is secure, compliant and trustworthy
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, policies, requirements, and compliance standards
- Maintain awareness of emerging AI security tools, practices, and industry trends, and apply relevant innovations to improve organisational capability.
- Collaborate effectively with delivery teams, platform teams, security teams, and stakeholders to enforce secure AI system practices and alignment with security policies.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including documenting solution designs, and ongoing support procedures.
- Actively contribute to a positive team culture by mentoring, coaching, and upskilling colleagues in AI security practices.
- Participate effectively in Agile delivery environments, contributing to planning, estimation, sprint activities, and continuous improvement within SCRUM or similar frameworks.

Mandatory
- 2+ years’ experience protecting AI systems (models, data, prompts, pipelines) from attack, misuse and unintended behaviour
- Hands-on experience undertaking vulnerability assessments, break testing, system monitoring, and incident response management
- Hands‑on experience recommending and implementing AI system security controls e.g. prompt and input security, response guard rails and data protection/retention
- Strong experience with DevSecOps & automation/scripting tools
- Strong understanding of AI/ML and Cloud fundamentals
- Strong knowledge of AWS security principles and security compliance frameworks e.g. ASD Essential Eight/ISM, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001.
- Minimum tertiary level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalent
- Relevant AWS certifications or equivalent e.g. AWS Certified Security – Specialty
- Experience working in complex enterprise cloud environments
- Highly developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience with DevOps/GitOps, including CI/CD and version control
- Open minded and able to pivot to diverse cloud engineering work
Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne . 12 month contract with 2 x 12- month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance.
