The end client is a major financial institution operating in a highly regulated capital markets environment, with a strong focus on trading, risk management, and post-trade processing.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Calypso Business Analyst to support critical trading and post-trade platforms within a financial market’s technology environment.

This role involves hands-on business analysis across Calypso modules covering the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including Front Office trading, Middle Office risk, valuation, and collateral, and Back Office clearing, settlement, and confirmations.

The role supports asset classes such as Rates, FX, Derivatives, Repos, and Fixed Income products, with a strong emphasis on post-trade processing, regulatory compliance, and operational stability. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, and vendors to analyse and document functional requirements, validate system behaviour, and deliver resilient, scalable solutions aligned with regulatory and market infrastructure requirements.

The role operates within Agile delivery frameworks and contributes to continuous improvement across development, enhancement, and BAU support initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as a hands-on Business Analyst across Calypso Front, Middle, and Back Office modules
  • Gather, analyse, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand trade capture, risk, valuation, collateral, clearing, settlement, and confirmations workflows
  • Translate business needs into Calypso functional specifications and configuration requirements
  • Support multiple asset classes ensuring accurate lifecycle processing and controls
  • Analyse and support post-trade and regulatory activities, including settlements, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Collaborate with architects and developers to align with Calypso best practices and architecture
  • Support configuration and customisation of workflows, pricing, and reference data
  • Conduct impact assessments for change and regulatory updates
  • Assist with testing activities, including UAT and defect triage
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure solutions meet regulatory, audit, and operational resilience requirements
 

The Successful candidate

Platform Expertise

  • Strong experience with the Calypso Trading & Risk platform, including:
    • Front Office (trade capture, pricing)
    • Middle Office (risk, valuation, collateral)
    • Back Office (settlement, confirmations, accounting integration)
  • Exposure to CATT (Calypso Automated Testing Tool) is advantageous
Capital Markets Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle
  • Experience across asset classes including FX, Rates, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Repos
  • Knowledge of post-trade processes (clearing, settlements, margining, reconciliations)
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements and controls
Business Analysis & Tools

  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, Visio
  • Strong documentation and process modelling capability
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Technical Awareness

  • Understanding of system integrations, message flows, and data structures
  • Exposure to market data and downstream systems
  • Basic SQL knowledge (desirable)
Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, regulated environments
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset
 

Domain & Soft Skills

  • Finance sector knowledge required.
  • Strong communication skills essential for ongoing stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model, with 2–3 days per week in the Sydney office.
