The end client is a major Defence organisation responsible for enhancing Australia’s maritime capability. This role sits within a critical program delivering complex category management and supply chain outcomes across nationally significant platforms. You’ll be contributing to secure, high‑impact work in a regulated and mission‑critical environment.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Category Manager to support the delivery of procurement, supply chain, and category management outcomes within the Defence Maritime domain. You will be responsible for managing and remediating a suite of standing offer contracts, while also leading the development of new category management procurement activities.
This role requires strong commercial acumen, deep Defence procurement understanding, and excellent stakeholder engagement capability.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and remediate existing standing offer contracts, ensuring compliance and alignment with program requirements.
  • Lead the development of new category management procurement activities.
  • Conduct industry research and market analysis to assess supply chain capacity and capability across established categories.
  • Integrate Procurement Connected Policy into category strategies and documentation.
  • Perform comprehensive risk analysis, including liability risk assessments.
  • Provide expert advice on category strategy, supply chain optimisation, and procurement approaches.
  • Engage effectively with Defence, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Advanced Diploma of Procurement & Contracting (or equivalent).
  • CIPS Membership highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in Defence supply chain, category management, and procurement policy.
  • Previous experience in Defence codification and cataloguing services.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building capability.
  • Proven experience with contract management and ERP systems.
  • Baseline Security Clearance (mandatory).
