The end client is a large organisation operating a significant multi‑cloud environment across AWS and Azure. This role supports cloud cost optimisation and financial governance initiatives, ensuring cloud services are consumed efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with business objectives and regulatory expectations.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cloud FinOps Analyst to drive cloud cost transparency, forecasting, and optimisation across AWS and Azure environments.
You will analyse cloud usage and expenditure, forecast future spend, and work closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to embed effective FinOps practices. The role plays a key part in improving financial governance while ensuring cloud platforms continue to support performance and scalability requirements.
Start: Mid‑June 2026
Locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse cloud usage and expenditure, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Forecast future cloud spend based on usage patterns, growth trends, and business objectives.
- Optimise cloud resources by recommending actions such as rightsizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
- Monitor usage trends and proactively identify changes that may impact cost or performance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align cloud usage with financial goals.
- Develop clear, concise financial and usage reports to support decision‑making.
- Generate insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency without impacting service quality.
- Support and mature FinOps processes, including cost allocation, chargeback/showback, and governance frameworks.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands‑on experience using AWS and/or Azure Cost Management, Budgets, and Usage Reports.
- Deep understanding of AWS and/or Azure pricing models, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
- Experience working with AWS & Azure services such as:
- Cost Explorer
- Trusted Advisor
- CloudWatch
- S3, DynamoDB, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis
- Proficiency in scripting or coding to retrieve, manipulate, and analyse cloud cost and usage data.
- Strong capability in cloud cost monitoring, reporting, and optimisation using FinOps best practices.
- Proven experience designing and implementing cost allocation and tagging frameworks, dashboards, and forecasting models.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams to align cloud financials with business objectives.
- Understanding of ITIL processes(incident, change, problem, configuration management).
Experience Profile
- 3–10 years’ experience managing AWS and/or Azure financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation.
- Demonstrated experience delivering actionable cost‑saving and efficiency recommendations.
Eligibility & Clearance Requirements
- Must hold an active AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 Security Clearance.
Desirable Qualifications
- AWS and/or Azure Solution Architect certification(or equivalent).
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.
