The end client is a large enterprise organisation operating in a highly regulated environment, with complex multi‑cloud networking requirements across Azure and AWS. This role supports the ongoing operation, optimisation, and uplift of enterprise cloud network platforms with strong focus on security, resilience, and governance.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to manage and support enterprise‑scale Azure and AWS networking environments. You will be responsible for maintaining core network components, supporting high‑availability and disaster‑recovery configurations, and collaborating closely with platform, security, and application teams.
This role is ideal for a network engineer with strong cloud experience who is comfortable working within structured change control and governance frameworks.
Start: Mid‑June 2026
Locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage Azure and AWS networking components, including:
- Network Security Groups (NSGs)
- Virtual Networks (VNets)
- Load Balancers
- User‑Defined Routes (UDRs)
- Ensure NSGs are consistently applied, aligned with security policies, and support segmentation models.
- Develop and maintain network patterns, load balancer configurations, and DNS integrations.
- Support high‑availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) network configurations across multiple Azure regions.
- Collaborate with platform, security, and application teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and implement approved network changes.
- Monitor network performance and availability using Azure‑native monitoring tools, responding to alerts in line with incident response procedures.
- Participate in change management processes and ensure network documentation remains current.
- Perform root cause analysis for network‑related incidents and implement corrective actions.
- 5–10+ years’ experience managing enterprise networking infrastructure.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Azure and AWS networking services, including:
- Routing and IP addressing
- NSGs and cloud firewall policies
- VNets and service endpoints
- Load Balancers and Application Gateways
- DNS and Cloudflare
- Experience working with multi‑region, multi‑zone network topologies.
- Strong understanding of HA/DR network design in cloud environments.
- Experience using Azure monitoring and diagnostics tools such as:
- Network Watcher
- Azure Monitor
- Log Analytics
- Ability to operate effectively within strict change control and governance models.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate(or equivalent).
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as ARM templates or Terraform.
- Understanding of Zero Trust networking and cloud segmentation models.
- AGSVA Baseline Clearance required.
- NV1 Clearance preferred or willingness/eligibility to obtain.
