About the role:

As a Cloud Platform Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency in cloud-based solutions (AWS & Azure).

 

Mandatory Requirement:

Citizenship Requirement: Must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for this role.

Government Clearance: Minimum baseline or NV-1 clearance government clearance.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and Implementing Infrastructure Solutions: Cloud Platform Engineers create robust architectures that meet organizational needs, ensuring that the infrastructure is scalable and efficient.
  • Collaborating with Development Teams: They work closely with software developers and other IT professionals to integrate applications with cloud services, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Continuous oversight of cloud environments is essential. Engineers monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to maintain reliability and uptime.
  • Implementing Security Measures: Protecting data and applications in a virtual environment is a critical responsibility. Cloud Platform Engineers must implement security protocols to safeguard against vulnerabilities.
  • Automating Deployments: They automate the deployment of applications and services to streamline operations and reduce manual errors, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Analysing Cloud Usage: Engineers analyse cloud resource usage to identify opportunities for optimization, helping to reduce costs and improve performance.
  • Developing Disaster Recovery Plans: They create and implement disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in case of system failures or data loss.
  • Staying Informed on Emerging Technologies: Cloud Platform Engineers must keep up with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing to ensure that their skills and solutions remain relevant.
 

The successful candidate:

  • Strong proficiency in AWS & Azure Platform Services.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and automation practices.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and deployment tasks.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools to manage cloud resources programmatically.
  • Problem-Solving & Collaboration: Strong analytical skills, ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills

  • 5-10+ years of hands-on experience managing infrastructure in AWS & Azure environments.
  • Terraform Enterprise, GitHub Actions, pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux.
  • Strong understanding of AWS & Azure IaaS services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, load balancers, NSGs, and availability sets/zones.
  • Experience with infrastructure patching using native AWS & Azure tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS & Azure monitoring and observability tools.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across compute, networking, and OS-level issues
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem, configuration management).
 

What's on offer?

This contract is available for an initial 12-month term with an extension – June 2026 start

Located in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane or Adelaide.
