The Role:.
Our ideal job seeker is a website focused content designer who understands that content is a core part of the digital experience, not an afterthought. You design and shape website content so people can quickly find what they need, understand what to do, and complete their tasks with confidence.
You have strong experience designing content within website information architecture, design patterns, and CMS constraints. You think in pages, components, and journeys, and you write with reuse, scalability, and consistency in mind. You apply plain language, accessibility, and inclusive writing standards, and are confident translating complex policy or technical material into clear, actionable web content.
You enjoy working closely with UX, UI, and research roles, using evidence and testing to improve content. You are also motivated to uplift APS capability, sharing your knowledge through collaboration, mentoring, and practical coaching so that government teams can continue to design high quality content long after the engagement ends.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• Drive improvements to digital content through adhering to the Digital Content Strategy.
• Work with business to collaboratively develop content that meets user needs and best practice.
• Apply a variety of tools to develop content that is inclusive and accessible for the Australian public.
• Through partnerships with other Government agencies, we help shape whole-of-government digital communication standards.
• Maintain, apply and promote use of the Departments style guide, Content Experience Toolkit and Australian Government Style Manual to align content with best practice guidance.
• We honour our commitment to digital inclusion, delivering accessible content across digital channels.
• Provide strategic leadership for content design across AI enabled platforms and search, ensuring content is discoverable, trusted, and aligned to organisational priorities
Location and Contract Term: This role is
Hobart, Newcastle, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne
based. 6 month contract
with 2 x 12 month contract extension options
pending budget and delegate approval.
