About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to support the delivery of complex procurement and contract management activities within a specialised government environment.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will provide expert contract management support across the procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance, performance, and value outcomes are achieved.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting high-value and complex procurement and contract activities.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Developing and managing procurement documentation, reports, strategies, submissions, and correspondence.
  • Applying procurement legislation, policy requirements, and commercial principles to contract management activities.
  • Assisting with financial management activities, including forecasting, expenditure tracking, and purchase order processing.
  • Monitoring contract performance, risk, and governance requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve procurement practices and contract management processes.
  • Contributing to contract variations, performance reviews, and risk mitigation activities.
 
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in contract management within a government, defence, or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Experience managing complex procurement and contract activities from initiation through to delivery.
  • Sound understanding of Commonwealth procurement principles, contract administration, compliance obligations, and risk management.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality procurement and contract documentation.
  • Qualifications in Business, Procurement, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
