Our client is a highly regarded Federal Government intelligence organisation responsible for delivering critical geospatial and intelligence capabilities that support Australia's national interests. Operating in a complex and technology-driven environment, they manage a range of sophisticated ICT systems that enable the collection, production and dissemination of critical information.
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Cost Estimator / Financial Management Specialist to join a high-performing Product Management Office, supporting the financial sustainment and future planning of mission-critical ICT capabilities.
About the Role
Working within a multidisciplinary ICT environment, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management and long-term sustainment of complex technology platforms. You will be responsible for developing cost management strategies, financial forecasts and budget plans that enable informed decision-making across the organisation.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing financial plans and forecasts to support ICT sustainment activities.
  • Monitoring expenditure and performance against approved budgets.
  • Conducting cost analysis and providing insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Producing reports, business artefacts and financial briefs for governance forums.
  • Identifying and managing cost-related risks and issues.
  • Engaging effectively with a broad range of technical, operational and executive stakeholders.
  • Supporting multi-year planning cycles and financial management activities.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in financial management, cost estimation, budgeting or cost analysis within a complex ICT environment.
You will demonstrate:
  • Experience developing and managing financial plans, forecasts and budgets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide meaningful financial insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently under broad direction and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience preparing reports, financial artefacts and governance documentation.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and escalating issues where appropriate.
Highly regarded experience includes:
  • ICT enterprise cost modelling or cost analysis.
  • Experience working within Federal Government or secure environments.
  • Knowledge of financial management frameworks and governance processes .
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Security Requirements: Candidates holding a TSPV clearance is preferred, however candidates holding an NV2 will be considered. An DISA(Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment) may be required for this position.
