The end client is a large-scale operator within Australia's critical infrastructure sector, responsible for delivering essential services to millions of customers. The organisation is undertaking significant cyber security transformation initiatives focused on resilience, cloud security, operational technology (OT), and secure-by-design delivery.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to provide strategic leadership across security architecture, engineering, and cyber security roadmap initiatives within a highly regulated environment.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior cyber security professional to influence enterprise-wide security strategy, drive architectural governance, and help shape the future security posture of a critical infrastructure organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead security architecture, strategy, and engineering functions.
- Develop and maintain a multi-year cyber security strategy and roadmap.
- Drive secure-by-design principles across enterprise technology environments.
- Own and evolve enterprise security architecture frameworks and standards.
- Provide security design authority and architectural governance across major programs.
- Lead security architecture reviews and risk assessments for new initiatives.
- Define security patterns, blueprints, standards, and reference architectures.
- Drive cloud security architecture across public and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Partner with business, technology, risk, compliance, and vendor stakeholders.
- Lead threat modelling, security assurance, and risk treatment activities.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of security architects and specialists.
- Represent cyber security architecture in executive and enterprise architecture forums.
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, IEC 62443, ICS 410, or willingness to obtain.
- 15+ years of experience across cyber security and enterprise technology environments.
- Proven leadership experience within large, complex, and highly regulated organisations.
- Strong expertise in:
- Security Architecture
- Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF, SABSA)
- Cloud Security (Azure and/or AWS)
- Identity & Access Management
- Data Protection & Privacy
- Application & API Security
- Infrastructure & Network Security
- Zero Trust Architecture
- Deep understanding of Australian cyber security and critical infrastructure frameworks including:
- SOCI Act
- NIST
- SANS
- AESCSF
- Experience with Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and executive influencing capability.
- Energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, or industrial sector experience.
- Experience securing cloud-native and hybrid platforms.
- Network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and next-generation firewall expertise.
- Data governance, secure analytics, and AI security experience.
- Experience leading large-scale cyber transformation programs.
