About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to play a key role in the design and development of a large-scale, cross-agency data initiative. This position will lead the creation of data models and architecture frameworks that underpin a nationally significant digital program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of conceptual and logical data models, schemas, and information frameworks
- Translating complex business and regulatory requirements into structured data solutions
- Defining and implementing data standards, including reference data, metadata, and harmonisation approaches
- Mapping data across multiple agencies and aligning with national and international standards
- Designing structured data exchange formats and advising on integration patterns
- Conducting data assessments, including quality, completeness, and risk analysis
- Establishing data governance practices, including lineage, traceability, and access controls
- Engaging with stakeholders across government to drive alignment and endorsement of data architecture outputs
- Producing and maintaining reusable data artefacts such as models, dictionaries, and mappings
- Supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift across internal teams
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise alongside the ability to work collaboratively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in data modelling and data architecture within complex or regulated environments
- Strong capability translating business requirements into logical data models (entities, relationships, rules, constraints)
- Experience developing data reference models, metadata frameworks, and mapping specifications
- Knowledge of data harmonisation and reference data management across organisations
- Understanding of data governance, quality, and lifecycle management principles
- Ability to design structured data exchange solutions and support system integration
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present and influence across technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with a focus on clarity and traceability

Contract terms: 6 months from commencement date
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizens with an active Baseline or higher security clearance.
