Our client is a highly regarded national security organisation within the Federal Government that plays a critical role in protecting Australia's interests through intelligence capabilities, cyber security and advanced technology solutions.
Operating at the forefront of data, intelligence and cyber operations, the organisation delivers mission-critical capabilities that support Australia's security and strategic objectives. Due to continued growth, an opportunity exists for an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing technical team working on complex and impactful projects.
About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining data engineering solutions that enable the effective collection, storage, integration and analysis of data from a wide range of sources.
Working within a collaborative and technically sophisticated environment, you will develop robust data pipelines and analytical platforms that support operational outcomes and data-driven decision making.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, developing and maintaining complex data engineering solutions.
  • Building, deploying and supporting scalable data pipelines and data stores.
  • Transforming, integrating and transporting data across multiple systems and environments.
  • Analysing and resolving complex data engineering challenges.
  • Providing advice on data architecture, interoperability, storage and analytics solutions.
  • Conducting diagnostic activities to identify system vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contributing to data governance frameworks, standards and engineering best practices.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across data processes, systems and tools.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience delivering data engineering solutions within complex enterprise environments and possess strong technical problem-solving capabilities.
You will bring:
  • Proven experience designing, implementing and maintaining complex data engineering solutions.
  • Strong expertise developing and managing data pipelines, data integration processes and data platforms.
  • Experience working with data modelling principles and maintaining data structures to support business requirements.
  • The ability to perform data quality assessments, remediation activities and measurement reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify improvements and drive innovation across data processes and systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: APS5 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
