The end client is a large organisation undertaking a database modernisation initiative, migrating legacy Db2 workloads to Amazon RDS as part of a broader cloud strategy. This role supports a focused migration program aimed at delivering a seamless transition with minimal business disruption.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Db2 Delivery Consultant to lead the end‑to‑end migration of legacy Db2 databases to AWS RDS.
You will work closely with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to assess the existing environment, design a migration approach, execute data and schema transformations, and support post‑migration stabilisation and optimisation.
This is a short‑term contract (approx. 50 days total effort), delivered fully remotely, commencing around June.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the existing Db2 landscape and identify migration blockers and risks.
- Develop a detailed migration roadmap, including timelines and risk‑mitigation strategies.
- Lead schema transformation, data migration, and application compatibility testing.
- Implement automation to support repeatable and efficient migration processes.
- Ensure migration activities comply with security, audit, and governance requirements.
- Support post‑migration stabilisation, performance tuning, and optimisation within AWS RDS.
- Work collaboratively with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams throughout delivery.
- 5+ years’ experience working with Db2 databases.
- Strong hands‑on experience with AWS, particularly:
- Amazon RDS
- AWS database migration tooling
- Proven experience designing and executing database migration initiatives.
- Strong technical problem‑solving and troubleshooting capability.
- Demonstrated track record delivering successful DB2 → AWS migrations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Broad industry experience ( 10+ years preferred).
- Contract duration: Approx. 50 days (total effort)
