About the Role
Multiple roles exist for Developers with varying experience levels to join a major Government program delivering secure, high quality digital solutions.

This role suits a technically strong professional who enjoys taking ownership across the full software development lifecycle and working within complex, highly regulated environments.

You will design, build, test and maintain robust software solutions across both backend and modern frontend technologies, contributing to enterprise-scale systems that deliver real value to stakeholders. Working as part of an agile Scrum team, you will champion best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), automated testing and continuous integration.

Mandatory Requirements: Candidates must be an Australian Citizen with an active AGSVA clearance.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design & Development:
    Analyse user and business requirements, translate them into technical designs, and develop high-quality software solutions using technologies such as .NET, SQL, Java, Python, JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance:
    Develop and execute unit, integration and automated tests, debug issues, and ensure solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Maintenance & Enhancement:
    Maintain and enhance existing systems, resolving defects, improving performance, and implementing upgrades as required.
  • Collaboration & Agile Delivery:
    Work closely with UX/UI designers, architects, project managers and other developers within agile Scrum teams to deliver solutions aligned to agreed standards and timelines.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentoring:
    Provide technical guidance to team members, lead code reviews, contribute to design decisions, and promote continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Documentation & Stakeholder Engagement:
    Prepare technical documentation and progress reports, and engage with stakeholders to provide updates and recommend improvements.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 1-4 years (junior); 5-9 years (mid) or 10+ years (senior) of hands-on experience delivering software solutions in complex environments
  • Strong development experience across backend technologies (.NET, SQL) and frontend frameworks
  • Proficiency in languages and frameworks including Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, AngularJS and .NET
  • Experience using version control and collaboration tools such as Git and GitHub
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working on government or highly regulated projects
  • Exposure to Digital Identity solutions
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles and development standards
