They are seeking an experienced Digital Integration Subject Matter Expert to support the integration and interoperability of complex digital systems and capabilities. The environment involves large-scale systems integration, military command and control technologies, tactical networks and communications, and the integration of new and emerging technologies with existing capability.

About the Role
As the Digital Integration Subject Matter Expert, you will work within a multidisciplinary technical team providing specialist advice on the integration of complex digital capabilities and systems.

This is not a general commercial ICT integration role. The position requires an understanding of complex Defence capability environments and how digital systems, networks, platforms and operational technologies need to integrate and interoperate.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing specialist technical advice on digital integration and interoperability requirements.
  • Supporting the integration of complex command, control, communications and digital systems.
  • Developing a detailed understanding of system-of-systems architectures, including dependencies between platforms, networks, software and communications systems.
  • Assessing proposed integration approaches and identifying technical risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Producing detailed technical advice, implementation documentation and technical proposals.
  • Reviewing capability designs, technical documentation, test and evaluation plans and integration approaches.
  • Supporting systems engineering, verification, validation and technical assurance activities.
  • Working with technical specialists to establish consistent integration approaches across complex capability environments.
  • Engaging with ADF, APS, technical, capability and project stakeholders to understand requirements and provide practical integration advice.
  • Facilitating technical workshops, working groups and stakeholder forums.
  • Contributing to future capability development and identifying opportunities to integrate emerging technologies.
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for an experienced technical specialist with a strong background in Defence, military technology, complex systems integration or a closely related secure Government environment.

You will have demonstrated experience and/or relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline, together with specialist experience some of the following areas:
  • Military C4 or C4ISR systems and software.
  • Tactical networking and communications systems.
  • Tactical Data Links and associated protocols.
  • Systems engineering and system-of-systems integration.
  • Enterprise or systems architecture.
  • Distributed systems.
  • Tactical or strategic communications bearers, including radio, waveform or satellite communications technologies.
  • Software design and complex software systems.
  • Autonomous systems and their integration with broader operational systems.
  • Land-based military systems and their digital integration.
You will ideally have practical experience within the Defence capability lifecycle, including capability definition, design, integration, acquisition, delivery, test and evaluation or sustainment.

Experience engaging with ADF and APS stakeholders, capability areas, technical specialists and project teams will be highly regarded.

You will also bring:
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • The ability to produce clear technical advice, recommendations and documentation.
  • Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams.
  • An understanding of technical design, test and evaluation, verification and validation, configuration management and risk management methodologies.
  • The ability to translate complex technical issues into practical integration advice.
  • A minimum active NV1 security clearance at commencement.
What is on Offer
  • Long-term contract opportunity - Until 31 December 2028 with 2 x 12 month extension options!
  • Canberra-based opportunity working within a highly specialised Australian Government capability environment.
  • Exposure to complex C4, tactical networking, systems integration and emerging technology challenges.
