ECM Technical Lead

ECM Technology Lead (IBM FileNet / Content Platforms)

Enterprise Content Management | Operational & BAU Focus

About the Consultancy

Join a leading international consultancy delivering enterprise‑scale content management, data governance, and platform services across highly regulated industries. Our teams partner with organisations to stabilise, optimise, and evolve critical content platforms — ensuring long‑term reliability, performance, and compliance.

About the End Client

The end client is a large enterprise operating complex Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms that support critical business processes. This role is focused on managed application support, platform optimisation, and operational excellence, with ongoing enhancements driven by real business demand rather than pure transformation.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior ECM Technology Lead / Practice Lead to take ownership of platform strategy, operational maturity, and day‑to‑day service effectiveness across enterprise ECM systems.

This is not a pure transformation role — the focus is on:

  • Stabilising and improving existing platforms
  • Driving BAU support maturity and efficiency
  • Providing architectural leadership and operational direction
  • Supporting continuous improvement, automation, and governance
You will act as the senior technical authority, working closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure ECM services are scalable, resilient, and aligned to enterprise standards.

Location:
Sydney

Key Responsibilities

Platform Ownership & Operational Leadership

  • Assess current‑state ECM platforms, integrations, and operational maturity.
  • Provide architectural leadership to ensure stability, scalability, and performance of ECM solutions.
  • Drive BAU optimisation, reducing operational overhead and improving support processes.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex platform issues across ingestion, workflow, and archival layers.
Managed Application Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for automation across ingestion, classification, workflows, archival, and retrieval processes.
  • Improve operational efficiency through better monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
  • Define and implement operational KPIs, SLIs, SLOs, and performance benchmarks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned to business priorities and operational risk.
Architecture, Governance & Roadmap

  • Develop a multi‑year ECM roadmap covering modernisation, cloud adoption, automation, and compliance.
  • Translate strategy into actionable implementation plans with clear milestones, dependencies, and metrics.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards.
  • Produce architecture artefacts (roadmaps, diagrams, decision papers, risk assessments).
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Facilitate workshops with business units to understand content lifecycle needs and pain points.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in business‑friendly language to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
  • Review designs, code, and deployment pipelines to ensure scalability and quality.
Required Skills & Experience

ECM Platform Expertise

  • Strong hands‑on and design‑level expertise across IBM ECM platforms, including:
    • IBM FileNet(repository architecture, performance, security)
    • IBM CMOD(archival, retention, retrieval optimisation)
    • IBM Datacap(capture workflows, OCR/ICR, automation)
    • IBM BAW / Case Manager(workflow automation and case lifecycle)
Architecture & Integration

  • Experience designing end‑to‑end content lifecycle architectures.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Integration patterns (API‑led, event‑driven, microservices)
    • Security patterns (zero trust, encryption, identity propagation)
    • Data governance, retention, and compliance frameworks
Cloud, DevOps & Operations

  • Experience with cloud‑native and hybrid ECM deployments, including containerisation and OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of:
    • CI/CD, GitOps, and automated deployments
    • Observability frameworks (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry)
    • High availability, disaster recovery, and multi‑site strategies
  • Strong focus on operational readiness, monitoring, and proactive system management.
What’s on Offer?

  • Opportunity to lead and own a critical ECM platform in a BAU / managed services environment.
  • Role focused on operational excellence, platform stability, and continuous improvement — not just transformation delivery.
  • International consultancy environment with strong enterprise architecture and delivery capability.
  • High‑impact role influencing strategy, governance, and platform performance.
