About the End Client
The end client operates a large, complex program requiring strong operational leadership and delivery governance. This role supports enterprise‑scale service delivery, aligning operational execution with broader strategic objectives while driving improvement across people, process, and performance.
This role requires an Australian Citizen with NV1 Clearance.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Specialised SME in IBM FileNet to lead the design, development, deployment, and optimisation of a FileNet‑based enterprise solution integrated with GIS and AWS services.
The role requires deep hands‑on technical expertise in FileNet architecture, development, and configuration, combined with strong software engineering experience across Java, JavaScript/Dojo, and AWS environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end‑to‑end implementation of a FileNet content management and GIS‑enabled search platform, ensuring high performance, compliance, scalability, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment of IBM FileNet across standard dev/test/production environments on AWS, including installation, configuration, and validation.
- Configure FileNet using ACCE with a focus on minimal metadata required to support ingestion, search, security, and auditing.
- Develop FileNet event‑processing logic in Java to extract metadata from inbound XML, classify content, and extract/push GIS data into a Postgres database with GIS extensions.
- Design and develop IBM Content Navigator components to support GIS search result rendering, including UI elements developed in JavaScript/Dojo.
- Build Java‑based Navigator services to query FileNet and GIS datasets to return filtered, consolidated, or targeted information.
- Develop interactive Navigator UI functionality for user interaction with the GIS‑integrated query service and display components.
- Ensure FileNet documents correctly store SWIM‑related data, with GIS data persisted in Postgres and linked through FileNet object store IDs, class IDs, version series IDs, and object IDs.
- Deliver a unified search and mapping capability that allows users to locate multiple items, apply metadata filters, and view authorised content securely.
- Support export capabilities through the Navigator UI for both data and retrieval history.
- Ensure compliance with FileNet’s security, auditing, and content lifecycle capabilities, leveraging out‑of‑the‑box features where possible.
- Provide architectural leadership, guidance, and best practices for scaling, securing, and optimising FileNet and GIS data integration.
- Act as the subject matter authority on FileNet design, development, and solution architecture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands‑on expertise with IBM FileNet platform deployment, configuration, and custom development.
- Strong FileNet architecture background, including object store design, metadata modelling, security models, and event actions.
- Proficiency with ACCE for FileNet configuration.
- Strong Java development skills, specifically related to FileNet event handling, metadata processing, and integration workflows.
- Experience developing IBM Content Navigator plugins, services, and UI components using JavaScript and Dojo.
- Experience working with GIS data structures and storing GIS‑enabled datasets in Postgres/PostGIS.
- Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure and experience deploying enterprise applications on AWS.
- Proven ability to design and implement solutions integrating FileNet metadata with external databases using structured ID mapping.
- Ability to architect and build complex search and retrieval services across FileNet and GIS layers.
- Strong understanding of FileNet security, auditing, and metadata lifecycle features.
- Ability to work across full development lifecycle from POC to production.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with the ability to act as the technical authority.
This is initially being offered as a 70-day contract with potential extensions.
