About the Client and Role:
Our client is a key government agency in Queensland with an urgent requirement for an experienced Finance Officer (AO4) to join their Technology and Business Services team on a part-time basis (0.6FTE - 3 days per week).
It is essential that two of the days the successful candidate is available to work include Thursdays and Fridays each week, as these days are critical the operational needs of the team.
The role will support day‑to‑day financial and business operations, with a strong focus on budget tracking, financial processing, and reporting. It is well suited to someone who is organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the monitoring and maintenance of ICT and accommodation budgets, including tracking expenditure and supporting forecasting activities
- Preparing and processing payments, journals, accruals and other finance transactions in line with Treasury policies and timeframes
- Supporting end‑of‑month activities, including reconciliations and investigation of discrepancies
- Producing routine financial reports and ad‑hoc analysis to support managers and senior staff
- Maintaining accurate records and financial documentation, ensuring compliance with governance and audit requirements
- Assisting with contract and supplier administration, including tracking spend and supporting contract compliance activities
- Providing general business and administrative support to managers as required, including responding to finance‑related queries
- Contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting practices
Experience Required:
- Experience working in a finance or business support role within the Queensland Government or a comparable environment
- Familiarity with SAP / SAP Fiori and strong skills in Excel(Power BI experience advantageous)
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work with a high degree of accuracy
