This role supports enterprise secret management uplift across cloud platforms, enabling secure application onboarding and robust operational practices.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced HashiCorp Vault Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise‑grade secret management solutions. You will drive security architecture for Vault, implement enhancements and automation, support application onboarding, and ensure secret management practices align to best‑practice security standards and governance requirements.
Start: Mid‑June 2026
Locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced security architectures for enterprise secret management using HashiCorp Vault.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring or critical Vault/security incidents and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and deploy enhancements to improve security and efficiency of secret management processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement long‑term security strategies and continuous improvements.
- Coordinate with application owner teams to enable Vault capabilities during application onboarding.
- Recommend best practices and support policy fine‑tuning for secret governance and access controls.
- Support escalated incidents and work with OEMs on complex issues through to resolution.
- Complete tactical security operations tasks aligned to the engagement.
- Strong hands‑on experience delivering HashiCorp Vault services in cloud environments (AWS & Azure).
- Proven experience developing Vault integration patterns, secret policies, and automation.
- Deep experience with Terraform for infrastructure management.
- Familiarity integrating Vault into CI/CD pipelines and delivery workflows.
- Strong understanding of AWS & Azure IaaS services.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals.
- Understanding of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem, configuration management).
- Must hold an active AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 clearance.
- HashiCorp certification (e.g., HashiCorp Developer).
- AWS and/or Azure DevOps certifications (or equivalent).
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.
- Opportunity to work on enterprise‑grade secrets management and DevSecOps uplift.
- This is a 12- month initial contract with likely extensions.
