About the Role:
An exciting contract opportunity is available for an experienced Identity & Access Engineer to support large-scale identity and access management initiatives within a complex government environment.
This role will focus on Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), IAM architecture, RBAC design, and least‑privilege uplift initiatives, working closely with security, platform, and application teams to strengthen identity security posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain IAM solutions using Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)
- Develop and document IAM patterns for user, application, and service access
- Design and refine Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) models
- Lead least‑privilege uplift initiatives and permission remediation
- Perform privileged access reviews and clean‑up of high‑risk accounts and entitlements
- Collaborate with security, platform and application teams to embed IAM controls
- Support access reviews, identity governance, and continuous improvement activities
- Provide IAM subject matter expertise and produce clear technical documentation
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands‑on experience with IAM technologies, particularly Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)
- Proven experience designing and implementing RBAC in cloud environments
- Demonstrated experience remediating excessive or privileged access
- Strong understanding of least privilege and identity security best practices
- Experience creating reusable IAM patterns and standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Microsoft Entra / Azure AD or identity‑focused certifications
- Experience integrating IAM with cloud platforms, SaaS, and enterprise systems
- Exposure to identity governance, access reviews, and conditional access
- Additional security or cloud certifications (Azure Security, Identity Governance)
Mandatory Requirements:
Candidates must be an Australian Citizen with an active AGSVA Baseline clearance. NV1 (or ability to obtain) is preferred.
