The end client is a large enterprise organisation operating business‑critical infrastructure platforms with stringent availability, security, and disaster recovery requirements. This role supports both BAU operations and platform uplift initiatives across storage, backup, and IBM Power environments.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist – Cloud Platforms SME to provide senior‑level (L3) technical expertise across IBM Storage, Backup, and AIX/Power platforms.
You will play a key role in day‑to‑day infrastructure operations, disaster recovery readiness, platform upgrades, and escalation support, while also contributing to documentation, compliance, and knowledge uplift across teams.
This role suits a hands‑on infrastructure specialist with strong experience in IBM Spectrum Protect, IBM FlashSystem, and AIX on POWER platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Storage & Backup
- Administer IBM Storage / FlashSystem and SAN fabric environments.
- Perform storage upgrades, patching, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Manage snapshots, system builds from snapshots, and recovery in DR scenarios.
- Implement and administer IBM Spectrum Protect.
- Manage backup schedules, policies, and procedures.
- Perform disaster recovery for files, databases, and applications from backup servers.
- Administer AIX servers on IBM POWER hardware.
- Manage LPARs, PowerVM, PowerHA, HMC, NPIV, and NIM configurations.
- Perform AIX upgrades, migrations, patching, firmware upgrades, and HMC installations/upgrades.
- Administer IBM PowerHA for high‑availability environments.
- Manage infrastructure compliance and security, including hardening and security guidelines.
- Provide L3 support and escalation handling across platforms.
- Participate in 24×7 on‑call support and BAU operations.
- Train team members on technologies and operational processes.
- Maintain documentation for service desk processes, procedures, and day‑to‑day activities.
- IBM Spectrum Protect Backup System Administration (L3).
- IBM Storage / FlashSystem Administration (L3).
- AIX Administration(L1–L2 minimum, L3 preferred).
- 5–8+ years’ experience operating at L3 level across enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- IBM Spectrum Protect – implementation, administration, and disaster recovery
- IBM Storage / FlashSystem – installation, upgrades, patching, snapshot‑based recovery
- AIX Operating System – implementation and administration
- IBM PowerHA – administration
- IBM PowerVM – administration
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery processes across servers, databases, and applications.
- Experience working in environments with strict availability, security, and compliance requirements.
