The Role:
The IT Architect will be responsible for designing and maintaining the organization’s technology architecture to ensure it meets current and future business needs. This role focuses on developing and enforcing IT policies, standards, and frameworks that align with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Primary Duties:
• Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, and governance frameworks that enable effective IT architecture and risk management.
• Review and update policies to align with legislation, IT controls and industry best practices, while monitoring emerging trends and regulatory changes to keep policies current.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify gaps, gather insights, and prioritize improvements in IT policy and architecture.
• Provide expert policy advice on technology solutions to ensure projects align with architecture standards and organisational objectives
• Guide and mentor teams, overseeing quality assurance for policy deliverables to ensure compliance and consistency across the IT landscape.
• Design and document enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, and standards.
Skills and Experience Required:
We are seeking a candidate with strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and communication skills to influence and drive architectural decisions across the enterprise.
• Proven ability to develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Solid understanding of IT General Controls, compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST), and risk management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills to influence decisions and build consensus.
• Ability to align architecture with organizational strategy and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
• 8–10 years in IT architecture or related roles, with significant policy development experience.
Highly Regarded (but not required):
• Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, ITIL.
Familiarity with ITIL practices like disaster recovery, incident management, and change management.
Location and Contract Term: This role is based in Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane or Melbourne. 6 month contract with 2x6-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance.
