The Role:
The IT Test Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of complex data platforms and integrated services. This role is responsible for preparing, executing, and maintaining test requirements and scripts derived from design analysis, and working closely with design, build, and business teams to validate solutions. You will perform API testing using industry standard tools, support cloud based testing activities, and develop and maintain automation scripts within CI/CD pipelines to enable functional, end to end, performance, and integration testing.
The role involves identifying and raising defects, analysing points of failure, coordinating investigations, and working with triage groups to resolve issues. You will contribute to testing strategies, risk assessments, plans, specifications, and status reporting, while driving continuous improvement of testing processes and best practices across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, create, maintain, execute, and review test requirements and scripts derived from design analysis; liaise with design, build, and business teams.
• Perform API testing and scripting using API tools to validate data services and integrations.
• Automation testers also develop, maintain, and document automation scripts and adding scripts to CI/CD pipelines to support Functional automation and E2E, Performance testing scenarios and system integration. Provide technical mentorship and guidance as needed.
• Conduct cloud-based testing for data platforms and services to ensure scalability, security, and performance compliance.
• Raise defects, gather detailed information for defect entries, identify points of failure, and coordinate resources for issue investigation; work closely with bug triaging groups to resolve defects.
• Lead testing activities and provide guidance and mentoring to new test team members; conduct knowledge transfer sessions to upskill staff on tools, processes, and best practices.
• Contribute to and review testing artefacts, including strategies, approaches, plans, risk assessments, test specifications, and status reports.
• Develop, document, monitor, and improve testing processes and procedures; promote testing best practice across teams.
• Works collaboratively with testers, developers, Product owner and Scrum master to clarify requirements and resolve test questions during testing phases.
• Identifies risks, dependencies, and assumptions within assigned work and escalates appropriately.
• Support leadership and mentor other test analysts; plan, coordinate, and prepare individual performance, development, and succession plans aligned with agency strategic objectives.
• Work collaboratively to identify, validate, and implement business improvement strategies and change initiatives to support delivery of agency outcomes.
• Apply project management principles in the development and delivery of testing objectives and outcomes.
Location and Contract Term: This role is based in the Canberra, Adelaide, Docklands or Brisbane. 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance
