Laboratory Information System Implementation Lead

EMR LIS Implementation Lead
Contract role | 3 months initial | Hobart based | ASAP start

Whizdom Recruitment is seeking an experienced EMR Laboratory Information System (LIS) Implementation Lead to support a major digital health transformation program delivering statewide impact. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the implementation of an Electronic Medical Record system, with a strong focus on Laboratory Information Systems and pathology services. You will work alongside senior stakeholders, clinical teams, and technical specialists to drive successful system adoption and transformation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation of the LIS module within a large-scale EMR program
  • Manage integration of laboratory systems and analysers with the EMR environment
  • Develop and execute implementation plans aligned with broader program delivery
  • Drive stakeholder engagement across clinical, technical, and operational teams
  • Support change management, communications, and training initiatives
  • Conduct impact assessments and contribute to business readiness planning
  • Work collaboratively with pathology services to support statewide rollout
  • Identify risks, barriers, and opportunities to ensure successful adoption
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience leading LIS implementations within healthcare environments
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, systems, and analyser integrations
  • Experience with HL7 integration and EMR environments
  • Demonstrated delivery of complex healthcare IT projects at scale
  • Background in pathology or laboratory services, ideally with hands-on experience
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, complex environments with evolving priorities
