About the Role
We are seeking multiple Lead NiFi Data Flow Data Engineers to design, build, and optimise large-scale data pipelines in a highly secure environment.
You will take ownership of end-to-end data engineering solutions, ensuring the efficient ingestion, transformation, and integration of data from multiple sources into centralised systems. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, making it ideal for someone who thrives in complex, high-impact environments.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the design and development of scalable data engineering solutions
  • Building and optimising NiFi templates and processors for data ingestion and transformation
  • Integrating data from diverse sources and formats into unified data platforms
  • Applying and enforcing data standards, architectures, and security controls
  • Performing data modelling to support analytics and operational use cases
  • Ensuring performance, reliability, and availability of data pipelines
  • Driving best practices across CI/CD, monitoring, and deployment
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data flow strategies
  • Contributing to organisational standards, frameworks, and policies
The Successful Candidate
You are a senior data engineering professional with deep expertise in building and leading complex data solutions, particularly within secure or enterprise-scale environments.
Key requirements:
  • Proven experience leading data engineering initiatives (SFIA Level 6 or equivalent)
  • Strong capability in data modelling and design (SFIA Level 5 or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with data integration, including building pipelines and custom solutions
  • Solid knowledge of storage management, data protection, and recovery strategies
  • Demonstrated experience working with Apache NiFi for data flow development
  • Strong understanding of data architectures, standards, and governance
  • Ability to mentor others and uplift capability across teams
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Adelaide SA or Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Junior – APS4/5 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
