About the Role & Client:
Our client is a multinational corporation that provides information technology, consulting, and business process services to a range of clients across Government, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Retail and more. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Linux Administrator within one of their Government sector clients.
This role is open to candidates currently residing in Sydney, including those on working holiday visas and individuals without local experience. Applicants must either be based in Sydney or have confirmed plans to relocate.
Required Experience:
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of extensive experience in Unix/Linux system administration and network management, including:
- Installation and configuration of Linux OS on embedded hardware or development boards.
- Managing system processes, users, and permissions.
- Configuring and maintaining network services.
- Handling system logs and debugging kernel or system issues.
- Implementing security hardening and access control policies for real-time environments.
- Proven experience managing complex IT infrastructures and leading IT projects.
- Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including related services (EC2, EKS, etc.) and cloud tools such as Ansible, XLR, and Terraform.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Bash, Python) for automation and task management.
- Experience with version control and configuration management tools such as Git, SVN, or Bitbucket.
- Understanding of embedded hardware architectures with working knowledge of bootloaders and device drivers.
- Software development and integration/debugging experience using C and C++.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues promptly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively across teams.
- Experience providing production system support, including maintenance, bug fixes, and after-hours support.
- Ability to update and maintain technical documentation.
- Experience in release coordination.
- Providing architectural and design guidance for system improvements.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in system configurations, security measures, and documentation.
