MIO Specialist

MIO Specialist – MRO Inventory Optimisation

About the Consultancy

Join a leading international consultancy delivering specialist asset management, supply chain optimisation, and enterprise platform advisory services across regulated and asset‑intensive industries globally. Our teams work closely with clients to maximise value from complex systems through expert advisory, configuration, and targeted enablement.

About the End Client

The end client is a large enterprise organisation operating asset‑intensive environments with a strong focus on maintenance, reliability, and inventory optimisation. This role supports the ongoing optimisation and effective use of an MRO Inventory Optimisation (MIO) platform, ensuring data quality, user adoption, and measurable value realisation.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced MIO Specialist to provide advisory, optimisation, and enablement services across an IBM MRO Inventory Optimisation environment.

This is a specialist, part‑time consulting engagement, offering approximately 12 days of effort spread across a 12‑month period(up to 8 hours per month). The role is Australia‑based and delivered remotely, working with a small group of senior client users.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced MIO / supply‑chain specialist who enjoys advisory work, system optimisation, and knowledge transfer rather than full‑time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted MIO specialist advisor, supporting optimal use of the MRO Inventory Optimisation platform.
  • Understand client objectives and assist in developing practical plans to achieve outcomes through MIO usage.
  • Review actual system usage against agreed objectives and support value‑realisation reporting.
  • Conduct system assessments to identify opportunities for improved optimisation, configuration, or adoption.
  • Perform data health analysis, assessing data quality, accuracy, and currency, and provide remediation guidance.
  • Conduct user assessments, analysing platform usage, access frequency, functionality, and report utilisation.
  • Deliver web‑based training sessions for new users or system administrators.
  • Provide ongoing advisory support across:
    • Automated data file monitoring
    • Configuration and diagnostics
    • Application and configuration support
    • Bulk data loading and data connectors
    • Tailored training and enablement
    • Add‑on module configuration
    • System operation support
Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience implementing and supporting MRO Inventory Optimisation (MIO) solutions.
  • Strong background in supply chain or inventory management.
  • Experience delivering inventory management implementations across asset‑intensive industries.
  • Knowledge of maintenance operations, overhauls, and materials management.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with a range of supply chain and inventory management tools.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and perform data analysis.
  • Strong technical skills including:
    • Java / J2EE
    • REST APIs
    • SQL
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Cloud platforms
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Containerisation
    • ETL processes and data loading
  • Strong Excel and Access skills.
Engagement Details

  • Engagement type: Part‑time specialist consulting
  • Effort:~12 days across a 12‑month period
  • Delivery model: Remote (Australia‑based)
  • Start: March 2026
What’s on Offer?

  • Highly flexible, specialist advisory engagement.
  • Opportunity to influence inventory optimisation outcomes at a strategic level.
  • Work with an international consultancy known for enterprise supply‑chain capability.
