About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior MuleSoft Architect to support the design, governance, and delivery of enterprise integration solutions within a complex environment. This is a part-time engagement (2 days per week) suited to a highly capable consultant who can provide architectural leadership and hands-on expertise.
The successful candidate will work closely with solution architects, delivery teams, and client stakeholders to ensure integration solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to best practices.’
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and design of MuleSoft-based integration platforms and APIs
- Define and govern API-led connectivity and integration patterns
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
- Review solution designs, code, and implementation approaches
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, and reliability standards
- Support integration with cloud, on-premise, and third-party systems
- Contribute to technical documentation, architecture artefacts, and design standards
- Assist with troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimisation
- Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Support solution assurance and design reviews
- 5+ years’ experience in integration and middleware platforms
- 4+ years’ hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Strong expertise in:

- API design and management (REST, RAML/OAS)
- API-led connectivity
- Anypoint Runtime Manager, API Manager, Exchange
- DataWeave
- CloudHub / Runtime Fabric
- Experience integrating with SaaS, ERP, CRM, and legacy systems
- Strong understanding of security, OAuth, JWT, TLS, and API security best practices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP preferred)
- Proven experience operating in an architect or lead role
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles
- Experience working in Agile and hybrid delivery environments
- Ability to balance strategic design with hands-on delivery
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
- Experience in public sector programs
